John Bull has been providing the music and calls for barn dances, ceilidhs, country dances, folk dances – call them what you will – since 1976. Although the passing of time has taken its toll on the physical appearance of Band members (!), their enthusiasm and approach to their craft remains ever youthful! This is why many organisations invite the band back year after year to run their social or fundraising barn dances and why they are regularly booked for weddings, birthday and anniversary celebrations when people of all ages can be involved.

Unlike many bands, members of John Bull are highly experienced dancers themselves, so they have a clear understanding of what they are asking their audience to do! John Bull is also unusual in the fact that the band does not have just one 'home territory'. Although the majority of bookings tend to be around The Wirral, Merseyside and Cheshire areas, the band also plays further afield since Eddie moved to the Midlands, Neil to Derbyshire and Robin to the Isle of Man! Their motto is: 'Have Band will Travel'!
